LOCAL GUIDE / PERIMETER

One trip. Three parking systems.

Shopping, a train ride and an office visit can all happen around Perimeter. The car stays on one particular property, even when your day takes you elsewhere.

Where did you leave the car?

Dunwoody station is adjacent to Perimeter Mall, and offices sit around the wider district. That proximity makes walking between destinations useful, but it does not turn the parking into one shared system. The Ashford-Dunwoody walking and cycling path along the mall frontage is another reason your last stop may be different from the place where you parked.

Before discussing vehicle lock or key help, establish the parking property, level and section. A photograph of the parking sign or your own parking receipt may help you remember. Use visible references already available to you; do not enter restricted areas to search for a shortcut.

Mall parking has its own operator.

Perimeter Mall publishes its parking information and visitor policies on the mall’s official visit page. The operator says vehicles cannot remain overnight and directs lost-vehicle questions to mall Security. Check that current source for the applicable rules rather than treating nearby rail parking information as mall permission.

‘I cannot find the car’ and ‘I found the car, but the key is inside’ need different first steps. Ask the operator about a missing vehicle. For a known vehicle with a key or lock problem, give the parking section and describe the actual access issue. Locksmith help does not settle parking permission, towing or validation.

MARTA stations are separate sites.

Dunwoody, Sandy Springs and North Springs are distinct Red Line stations. Use the station where the car was left, rather than saying only ‘the Perimeter station.’ MARTA’s current parking table supplies the parking categories, rates and station-specific notes. Those policies can change, so this guide does not freeze a fee or free-parking period into its advice.

North Springs has two decks, and MARTA specifically instructs drivers to return by the same side used on entry. If that is your parking location, keep the entry side in your notes. A station entrance name or the destination on a rail ticket does not by itself identify the car’s deck.

Office access stays with the office.

A visitor garage can have its own gate, entry instructions and building contact. Walking connections between buildings do not establish permission to use a garage or pass through a controlled entrance. Follow the current instructions from the property you are visiting.

If the obstacle is a parking credential or barrier, contact that operator. If the car is accessible on the property but its own key is the problem, keep the vehicle inquiry separate. Give any operator instructions that are needed for an authorized visit when discussing availability.

Now choose the key question.

A key known to be locked inside the car belongs in a lockout inquiry. A missing key with no working spare belongs in a replacement inquiry. A key that is present but no longer works as expected needs its behavior described, along with the make, model and year.

If the missing ring also held a home or shop key, make a separate plan for those locks after the immediate vehicle issue is understood. A replacement car key does not change access at another property. Keep those decisions connected in your notes, but clear in the conversation.

  • Deck, side or marked section
  • Vehicle make, model and year
  • Key inside, missing or not working

GOOD QUESTIONS

A little more detail.

Can I assume mall parking follows MARTA’s rules?

No. The mall and MARTA operate separate parking sites. Use the current guidance from the operator of the property where the car is actually parked.

Should I call a locksmith if the car cannot be found?

Start with the property operator’s missing-vehicle process. A missing car is different from a known vehicle with a key locked inside or a missing working key.
